Don Harp will lead Bethany UMC’s revivalTue, 09/22/2009 - 12:42pm

Bethany United Methodist Church will host a revival Saturday and Sunday, Oct 10 and 11, featuring a special guest, the Rev. Dr. Don Harp, Fayette Countty native and retired minister of Atlanta’s Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. Services are planned for Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Harp grew up in Fayette County, the son of a farmer. Now retired, he was the senior minister at Peachtree Road UMC in Atlanta for 20 years. Harp was graduated from Fayette County High School, played baseball there and is a member of Fayette County High School’s Sports Hall of Fame. He was graduated from Young Harris Junior College, received his bachelor of arts degree from Huntingdon College, his master of divinity from Emory University, and his doctorate of divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary at the University of Chicago. For more than 43 years, he has served in ministry to the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. Harp is married to the former Mary Ellen Dendy of Montgomery, Ala. They have two children and five grandchildren. Bethany is on the corner of River’s/Milam Road and Lee’s Lake Road in north Fayette County.
