Despite the current downturn in sales tax revenue, the Peachtree City Council has kept funding intact for two social service organizations that serve city residents.

Thursday night council voted unanimously to approve funding for Fayette Senior Services and Promise Place. Fayette Senior Services provides a meals on wheels program, transportation and also operates a senior center in downtown Fayetteville.

Promise Place offers a variety of services to victims of domestic violence including counseling, legal advocacy and an emergency shelter among others.

Fayette Senior Services will receive $15,630 for the upcoming fiscal year and Promise Place will receive $7,500.

As many local non-profits have experienced fewer donations in the weakened economy, the city funds may have even more of an impact this year.
