Sandy Creek and Landmark girls survive

Both the Sandy Creek and Landmark Christian School varsity girls basketball teams won their first round state playoff games on Saturday night. The wins put them in the sweet 16 of their respective classifications.

In AAAA, the Lady Patriots of Sandy Creek (23-5) defeated Warner Robins 63-59. The girls will take on Jones County at Columbus State University on Thursday. If they win, the will face the winner of the Effingham County and Northside, Warner Robins game on Saturday.

In Class A action, Landmark Christian (21-6) defeated Trion 44-27. They will meet Jefferson at Georgia Highlands College at 4 p.m. on Thursday and, if they win, will meet the winner of the St. Francis and Social Circle game on Saturday.

In the AAAAA bracket, the Starr's Mill's Lady Panthers (16-13) fell to Beach by a score of 66-39.
