Local boys eliminated from state tournament

Fayette County, Sandy Creek and Starr's Mill all had their varsity boys basketball teams in the state tournament. On Friday night all three were knocked out in the first round.

The Fayette County Tigers (23-2) made the trip to Savannah and lost to the Blue Jackets 93-88 in overtime.

The Starr's Mill Panthers (13-16) hosted the Beach Bulldogs and also lost a close game, falling 52-46.

Sandy Creek's boys (12-17) traveled to Griffin and lost to the Bears 79-49.

There are three girls games on tap tonight. Landmark Christian hosts Trion, Sandy Creek hosts Warner Robins and Starr's Mill plays at Beach. All three games are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
