Chicken dinners to benefit Scouting programFri, 09/11/2009 - 3:14pm
By: The Citizen
Autumn is just around the corner. Why not squeeze in one more picnic and support the area scouting program by dropping by the 6th Annual Chicken-Q for your meal. The Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City and the Methodist Men of Peachtree City United Methodist Church once again join forces to co-sponsor the event Saturday, September 19th. Lighting of the charcoal begins at 4:00 a.m. to grill 1,500 chicken halves with just the right amount of tangy BBQ sauce. The result is a meal consisting of creamy cole slaw, zesty baked beans (secret recipe) and one-half of a juicy barbecued chicken: just perfect for a picnic only two days before Summer officially ends. Tickets are $7.75 and can be purchased from Kiwanis and Methodist Men members, or on-site. Drinks will also be available. The boxed take-out only meal may be picked up between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Methodist Youth Center on the corner of Peachtree Parkway and Windgate Road. There is no need to get out of your car or golf cart. Local scouts will happily serve you where you sit. The majority of proceeds will go to support the new scout lodge and area scouting programs. login to post comments |
