LTC. Robert Paul Lech

LTC. Robert Paul Lech, United States Army retired, Sharpsburg, died Aug. 30, 2009. He had fought a courageous battle against cancer, resulting from his exposure to Agent Orange. He was born Nov. 2, 1943 in Detroit, Mich. to Frank and Harriet Lech. He was preceded in death by brothers, Frank and Jerry. He held BA and MBA and was a graduate of the Army War College. He served as a combat medic in Vietnam, and was retired from the military in 1995. He and his wife were partners in Lech Promotions, Inc., and in 1998 he won the National Golden Pyramid Award for Excellence in Advertising. He was an active member of Newnan Kiwanis Club, COS Senior Go-Getters, the VFW, and the American Legion.

He loved live theatre and supported the Newnan Community Theater and The Atlanta Shakespeare Company. Memorial services were at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife, Jill Lech, Sharpsburg; sons, Dan and Jon and their families; and sisters Marlene and Diane and their families. Memorial donations may be made to the Community Welcome House, Inc., P. O. Box 1631, Newnan, GA 30263. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
