It was a simple matter of time. Members of the Senoia Downtown Development Authority Tuesday night voted to replace the organization’s mission statement with one that is more streamlined in its message and more appropriate to convey its intent.

Following previous discussions on the need to update the mission statement, board member Bob Fant presented several possible options from development authorities across the state. After a general discussion authority members voted unanimously to adopt the new mission statement that reads:

“The mission of the Senoia DDA is to revitalize, enhance, promote and stimulate the economic development of Senoia while maintaining its historical integrity and charm.”

The previous mission statement had been in use since 1997. In its entirety the old statement read:

The Senoia Downtown Development Authority is a non-profit, association of persons, appointed by Senoia City Council, and legally recognized by the Secretary of State of Georgia as an Authority whose charge is to promote the economic redevelopment of Senoia’s Historic downtown through organization, and education programs, and the marketing of our Main Street assets, to focus attention on the value of our Historic Downtown area and how that value relates to the interest of our citizens, and to reflect the value that our citizens place on the existence of a vital Downtown Senoia, and the future redevelopment of Senoia’s Historic Downtown through our citizens expectation of a “Quality of Life” first development objective.

The board during the discussion noted that the new mission statement could be amended annually or as deemed necessary.
