Monday night the Peachtree City Planning Commission will get its first look at a proposal to annex 48 acres onto the east side of the city limits for a residential development.

No vote is expected on the proposal, which will be discussed in a workshop format after the regular meeting is adjourned. The commission meets at City Hall starting at 7 p.m.

The tract would be developed with 21 single-family homes on lots of two or more acres each.

Hyde Investments LLP wants the annexation to extend development of the Hyde Park subdivision that is already in the city limits. The property is immediately to the east of the Peachtree City United Methodist Church.

The proposed tract is landlocked due to the location of Camp Creek and therefore must be accessed by going through the city, according to Mike Lorber, who is representing Hyde Investments on the project.

The property’s current zoning in the unincorporated county is agricultural-residential with a land use designation as low density residential.

Hyde Investments has indicated the homes would be sold around the $800,000 range but development wouldn’t begin for several years after the housing market improves.
