Fayette Senior Services will hold its first stakeholders partnership meetings Sept. 22 and again Oct. 1 to highlight the accomplishments and challenges to a community that is home to metro Atlanta’s third fastest growing senior population.

Executive Director Debbie Britt noted the importance of FSS in the lives of the county’s seniors and the significance of interfacing with community stakeholders.

“The services we provide are an important piece in the equation that defines quality of life in Fayette County. Our stakeholders are not just limited to older adults. Our stakeholders are the citizens of Fayette County who care and understand that the well-being of one person affects the whole family and can affect an entire community,” Britt said. “These meetings are designed to provide meaningful information so we can ensure that our community is forward thinking when it comes to the concerns of older adults.”

The non-profit FSS provides a variety of social services designed to improve the quality of life for older adults and help them to maintain their independence.

This past year, Fayette Senior Services delivered 40,000 Meals on Wheels to more than 250 homebound seniors residing in Fayette County, Britt said.

In addition, the organization also helps hundreds of seniors with specialized needs by providing them with transportation, information and assistance, in-home homemaker/personal care, case management, adult day care referral and home maintenance/repair, said Britt.

Britt said that given Fayette’s distinction as the third fastest growing senior population in metro Atlanta the stakeholder’s partnership meetings will provide an opportunity for citizens to review the organization’s annual report, which will include highlights of the past year’s accomplishments and the challenges ahead.

The staff and board of directors will also present information and facts about the essential services provided to older adults throughout Fayette County. The organization’s Life Enrichment Center, which has grown from 38 members to more than 2,500 members, will also be showcased at the meeting.

The stakeholders meetings will be held Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. and again on Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. at the Life Enrichment Center located at 4 Center Drive in Fayetteville.
