Chuck Morley, 65, Douglasville, died Sept. 6, 2009. He grew up in Asheville, N. C. where he starred for the local high school football team. Upon graduation he joined the United States Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War. Afterwards he obtained a college degree at East Tennessee State University. He began his career in the newspaper business but stayed on in the Air Force Reserve as a public information specialist. He was a newspaperman for 35 years, holding jobs in Fla., N. C., and Georgia. He teamed with his wife, Cindy, at the Fayette Newspapers for 16 years, leaving this past July. He most recently worked for the Thomaston Times. He was informed only recently that he had lung cancer. Memorial services were at Shepard of the Hills United Methodist Church, Douglasville on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Cindy Morley, Douglasville; a daughter and three grandchildren; a brother, Rick and Karen Morley, Peachtree City; a sister, Lisa Taylor; mother-in-law, Elaine Owens, Douglasville; brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Sara Owens; and father-in-law, Charles and Nancy Owens, Senoia. Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglasville, was in charge. login to post comments |
