Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg has undergone a name change. The new name is “The Cathedral of Christ the King.”

In June, the church’s pastor, David Epps, was seated as the new Bishop of the Mid-South Diocese, an area encompassing Georgia, Tennessee, and a portion of Illinois.

In the communion in which Epps serves, a diocesan bishop must be a pastor of a local congregation, unlike many other communions where the bishop no longer serves a church. The church where the bishop “sits,” is the “Diocesan See” and the church becomes the Cathedral Church of the Diocese.

The church’s sign was recently updated to reflect the change.
