Mr. and Mrs. Glen H. Blackston III of Fayetteville announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Blackston, to Ryan Higgins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Higgins of Rome, Ga.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen H. Blackston Jr. of Fayetteville and the late Mr. and Mrs. James B. Brown Jr, of Atlanta. She is a 2004 honor graduate of Fayette County High School and will graduate in May, 2010, from Emory University with a bachelor of science in nursing.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Betty Higgins and the late Howard W. Higgins of Armuchee, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Howard R. Gainer, formerly of Rockmart. He is a 2001 honor graduate of Armuchee High School and is currently in Afghanistan with the Georgia National Guard. Upon his return, he will resume his studies at Southern Polytechnic State University for a degree in civil engineering.

The wedding will be June 12, 2010, at Berry College Chapel in Mt. Berry.
