• Jack Bragg, son of Dan and Karen Bragg, submitted a poem to a contest that was held for young poets. Bragg, a third grader at Huddleston Elementary, had his poem selected as one of the top 10 entires in his grade. The top 10 poets in each grade receive special recognition in the poetry anthology “A Celebration of Poets.”

• Fayetteville native Jukabiea Barlow graduated from the University of the Arts with a Bachelor of Music in Performance.

• Thomas Carroll of Fayetteville graduated from Georgetown University in May. Carroll earned a bachelor’s degree from the Georgetown College and was one of 1,734 undergraduate students in Georgetown’s class of 2009. Carroll attended McCallie School.
