Norman E. Schrader Jr.Tue, 09/01/2009 - 4:14pm

Commander Norman E. Schrader Jr., United States Navy, Ret., 71, Pensacola, Fla. died Aug. 24, 2009 while visiting children in Atlanta. He was born Dec. 6, 1937 in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Norman and Doris Schrader Sr. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Margie, and a brother, Gene, of Gilbert, Ariz. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1956 and received his commission and designation as a naval aviator in 1958. He served two tours in Viet Nam as a helicopter pilot with the SEAWOLVES and was decorated with two Air Medals, and two Navy Commendations Medals. He served in the Volunteers in Public Service with the Gulf Breeze Police Department. A funeral Mass was held in Pensacola. Interment will be held there at a later date. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Felicia "Fifi" Schrader, Pensacola; a son, Daniel and Emily Schrader, Buford, Ga.; daughters, Susan and Michael Luciano, and Elizabeth Schrader, all of Peachtree City; seven grandchildren; and a sister. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge of local arrangements. login to post comments |
