PTC qualifying starts MondayFri, 08/28/2009 - 3:37pm
By: John Munford
Mayor, 2 council seats up for election Qualifying begins Monday at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall for those interested in running for mayor or either of the two city council posts in Peachtree City. In addition to the mayor’s spot, also up for grabs are the Post 3 council seat currently held by Steve Boone and the Post 4 seat currently held by Cyndi Plunkett. Plunkett and Post 1 councilman Don Haddix have announced they will run for mayor. Upon qualifying Haddix must resign from his seat because he has more than two years remaining on that elected term. A separate qualifying period will be held for Haddix’s Post 1 seat, officials have said. That also means there is the potential for as many as four new council members to be elected in November. Qualifying in Peachtree City will start Aug. 31 at 8:30 a.m., continuing during regular 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. regular office hours through Thursday. On Friday qualifying ends at 4:30 p.m. as provided by state law. The qualifying fee for the mayor’s seat is $270 and the fee for the council seats is $180. login to post comments |
