Emmett James Stallings Jr.Thu, 08/27/2009 - 3:30pm

Emmett James Stallings Jr., 81, Newnan, died Aug. 20, 2009. He was born June 21, 1928 in Rocky Mount, N. C. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett James and Addie Mary Curran Stallings, and a brother, Alton Curran Stallings, who died in 1989. He served in the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1954. He worked for AT&T from 1955 to 1985 when he retired to manage his catfish lake and fruit orchards at "Welcome Farms," Newnan. He was host for the Coweta Youth Fishing Rodeo for 20 years, and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Newnan. He was a member of Kiwanis and supported the Boy Scouts of America. His three sons and six of his grandsons are Eagle Scouts, and one grandson is a Life Scout. Services were at the First United Methodist Church of Newnan with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jacqueline Spradlin Stallings, Newnan; sons, Emmett James and Deborah Ward Stallings III, Gary Martin and Elizabeth Ann Stallings, and Russell Scott Stallings; grandsons, Emmett James and Wendy Stallings IV, Mark Timothy and Melissa Stallings, Daniel Zachary Stallings, Jacob Martin Stallings, Peter Curran Stallings, and Samuel Forrest Stallings, and Mason Louis Stallings; granddaughters, Carrie Ann Stallings and Jon Paul Watson, and Jacqueline Marie Stallings; two great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 33 Greenville St., Newnan, GA 30263 or the Boy Scouts of America, 1361 Zebulon Rd., Griffin, GA 30224.
