The American Red Cross blood drive, sponsored by the Optimist Club of Senoia and held at the Senoia United Methodist Church on August 3rd, was the most successful drive yet held by the Senoia Optimists.  A total of 49 pints of blood was collected versus a goal of 33.  Fifty four people actually attempted to donate, but some could not due to various reasons.

All participants were eligible for a free gift of special coupons from Maguire’s Family and Friends Restaurant, the Senoia Coffee Company, and the Redneck Gourmet.  In addition, the Optimists served grilled cheese sandwiches along with the traditional cookies and juice.

The next blood drive in Senoia is scheduled for Nov. 2, and it is also set to be held at the Senoia United Methodist Church at the corner of Seavy and Bridge Streets.  A single pint of blood can be safely donated every 56 days, and this next opportunity will allow the citizens in and around the Senoia area to once again rise to the need.

Most healthy people age 17 and older or 16 with parental consent, who weigh at least 110 pounds, are eligible to donate blood.  For more information, please call 1-800-GIVE LIFE (448-3543) or visit www.redcrossblood.org.
