Troop 175, sponsored by Peachtree City United Methodist Church, attended a week long summer camp at BSA Northeast Georgia Council Camp Rainey Mountain in Clayton, Georgia June 6-13. The Troop 175 contingent consisted of 66 scouts and 24 adult leaders. While at Camp Rainey Mountain scouts earned 262 merit badges. Sixteen new scouts from the Raven Patrol completed advancement requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class Scout through The New Scout Trail (TNT). Three scouts learned "yachting" around Lake Lanier at Scoutland during the Sailing Adventure Week, a separate program managed through the council. At the end of the week, scouts William Nase, Gabriel DeRose-Broeckert, Andrew Helvig, Alan Bowers, and Andrew Todd completed the BSA mile swim. Adults attending camp assisted the staff with merit badge instruction, attended adult leader training, and participated in other activities. Newly trained leaders include Andy Borden, Nancy Brunskole, Cathy Casado, Chris Ciecka, Walt Harmon, and Teresa Shafer. As a group, Troop 175 placed 3d out over 50 troops in the Scout Sills competition and Assistant Scoutmasters Len Donevant and Mike Russell won the Scoutmasters Cook-off. login to post comments |
