The Peachtree City Airport Authority announced a partnership with BB&T to support a new Veterans Memorial Park. The partnership will develop a special memorial to honor our active military, veterans and their families who have served and sacrificed for our country. The dedication will take place on September 26, 2009. Call (770) 487-2225 for more information.

The partnership is part of BB&T’s companywide community service initiative in August and September called the “BB&T Lighthouse Project.” The philanthropic effort is the largest in BB&T’s 137-year history.

“Our employees are honored to participate in this ground-breaking project,” said Derek Lane, president of BB&T’s South Atlanta Region. “It enables us to recognize both veterans and their families in our community. The BB&T Lighthouse Project highlights our ongoing commitment to Fayette County.”

The dedication of the Falcon Field Veterans Memorial is the opening milestone event of the renaissance of Falcon Field as the aviation gateway to Peachtree City and Fayette County. Falcon Field has many new and exciting developments underway that will firmly establish the airport as the premiere regional airport serving the southern metropolitan Atlanta area.

“We appreciate the work and dedication of BB&T Bank and its employees,” said Mike Brady, Chairman of Falcon Field. “Because of their generosity, we will be better positioned to honor those who have served and sacrificed.”

The development of the Veterans Memorial is underway with local businesses and citizens volunteering their services and assistance in many different ways. For more information on the Veterans Memorial Park visit www.falconmemorial.org or call (770) 487-2225.
