Mary Agnes Baker Maher

Mary Agnes Baker Maher, 89, Tyrone, formerly of Hapeville, died Aug. 23, 2009. She was born on May 14, 1920 in the Ben Hill community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Pierce Baker of Ben Hill, and Agnes Marie Lescouet of St. Nazaire, France, her husband, John Joseph Maher Jr., and a sister, Madeleine Freeman. She was an alumna of College Street Elementary and Russell High School, and attended the University in France. She loved gardening, flower arranging, and duplicate bridge. She was an active member of the Ladies Guild at St. John the Evangelist Church, and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she sang in the choir for 20 years.

Services will be today, Wed. Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will be at Westminster Cemetery, Peachtree City. Survivors include siblings, Margaret Johnston, L. P. "Buddy" Baker, and Janet Foster; and two sisters-in-law and their familiesl; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at Holy Trinity Church, 101 Walt Banks Rd., Peachtree City, GA 30269. Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.
