The vote is in and the potential to have alcohol served by the glass on Sundays in Tyrone will be left up to the voters in November. Council members approved the measure at the Thursday meeting.

If passed by voters, Sunday alcohol sales by the glass would be permitted between 12:30 p.m. and midnight.

Mayor Don Rehwaldt said previously that several restaurants last year had asked to have voters get the chance to approve or disapprove the measure. He said the Town Council had been agreeable to the idea but were too late in completing the required paperwork to have it included on the 2008 ballot.

Also at the meeting, the fireworks vendor was approved for the display during the Founder’s Day celebration that will be held Sept. 18-20. The fireworks display will be held Saturday, Sept. 19 at 9:15 p.m. at Handley Park.
