Jack Sauers, who has been instrumental in Killearn's golfing operations for the past 38 years, has been named general manager of Killearn's Eagle's Brooke Golf & Country Club, which is currently under construction.

Sauers has been transferred to Eagle's Brooke by Killearn from the company's prestigious, exclusively-private Waterfall Country Club at Lake Burton in the North Georgia mountains. Over the years, he has been involved in all of Killearn's golf operations, having served as director of golf at Killearn Golf & Country Club and Golden Eagle Golf Club in Florida, Eagle's Landing Country Club in Stockbridge, and Kingwood Resort and Waterfall Country Club in North Georgia. He was at Eagle's Landing for six years, and he has served as general manager at Waterfall for the past seven years.

He is a 31-year member of the Professional Golfers Association of America and a six-year member of the Club Managers Association of America.

Killearn founder, CEO and Chairman J.T. Williams Jr. said, “With his years of experience and his success, it was a natural decision to send Jack to establish Eagle's Brooke's golfing operation.”

Tom Grant, director of Killearn Golf Operations, noted that “the appointment of Jack to this position is indicative of the depth of commitment that Killearn has in making Eagle's Brooke a first class private facility”.

Sauers' initial responsibilities include working with golf course architect Scott Pool and superintendent Brannon Burnes to produce a course which can be enjoyed by all ages, skill levels and genders. He said that at the present time, the work is about one-half completed, the drainage and irrigation systems are being installed, golf cart bridges are under construction, and four holes are ready for grass work. At least nine of the 18 holes could be ready to play this fall.

He is also working with Becky Christian, membership and marketing director for the club, to sustain the membership growth that has already begun.

The Eagle's Brooke course is being designed and shaped by Scott Pool, who Williams described as "the best golf course designer I have ever worked with." A protégé of legendary golf course architects Pete Dye and Joe Lee, Pool designed the course at Kingwood Country Club and Resort in Clayton and spent two years living on site to design and shape the 18 holes at Waterfall, selected by Georgia Golf magazine as one of the five "Best of the Best" private courses in Georgia, along with Augusta National and Ocean Forest Club on Sea Island. Pool also designed Killearn's newest club, the Durham Lakes Golf & Country Club course in Fairburn.

The present plan calls for the Eagle's Brooke course to be over 7,000 yards long with four par five holes, 10 par fours and four par threes. It will feature numerous wooden bridges and walkways.

Founded in 1964, Killearn is a developer of quality golf course communities, and 36 PGA and LPGA tournaments have been played on golf courses in Killearn communities.

Eagle's Brooke Golf and Country Club is a private club being developed as part of the total Eagle's Brooke community in Locust Grove in Henry County. The 1,200-acre master-planned community will ultimately have approximately 600 upscale homes priced from the $300,000s to over $1 million. In addition to the Golf and Country Club facilities currently under construction, Eagle's Brooke residents enjoy a wide range of other amenities including pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, streetlights, underground utilities, matching designer mailboxes at each residence, play areas, and the security of a private, gated neighborhood.

The newest phase of the Eagle's Brooke community, which has 49 homesites, is being developed concurrently with the Golf and Country Club, and there will be some homesites available along the course.

During the period while the construction of the Eagle's Brooke Golf and Country Club is underway, a variety of membership packages are available to Eagle's Brooke home owners as well as to the public, including a limited number of Founding Memberships and Charter Memberships. Special membership packages — including substantial initiation fee discounts and membership privileges at other clubs at Killearn communities — are tailored specifically for Eagle's Brooke homeowners, and over 40 homeowners signed up for memberships during a recent groundbreaking event.

In addition to the 18-hole championship golf course, club facilities include a driving range and practice putting green, a restaurant and lounge, banquet services for weddings and special events, a fitness center including a weight room, men's and women's locker rooms and tennis courts.

Eagle's Brooke is located off Bill Gardner Parkway a short drive from Exit 212 of I-75.
