Let’s have debate over what’s in billTue, 08/18/2009 - 3:57pm

White House Press Secretary (a.k.a. Pillsbury spokesboy) Robert Gibbs, says that your outrage (this is where you’re just too stupid to even know that you’re being used) is “manufactured anger.” Manufactured anger! Wow. I wonder who’s manufacturing that. It has to be overseas because we’re closing down factories here. Obama and his cronies are out to fundamentally change the greatest country in the history of the world. Those who haven’t even read this healthcare reform bill will change it for the worse. In all of my spare time, when I’m not teaching, coaching, or being a right wing extremist with “manufactured anger,” I thought I’d start reading House Resolution 3200 (a.k.a. – America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009). You know the same bill that Congress won’t read, but will vote on. Here are a few of the “low lights” (from the first 253 pages) that we “un-Americans” would like to have an honest debate over: Page 22 — mandates that all employers that self-insure be audited by the government; Page 29 (lines 4-16) – your healthcare will be rationed (tell Nana that she’s lived her life); Page 30 (Section 123) — a government committee will decide what treatment and benefits you get (that takes a lot of the pressure off of my doctor, you know, the guy who went to medical school ... what a relief!); Page 50 (Section 152) — healthcare will be provided to ALL non US citizens, illegal or otherwise (this is great since they are already getting social security benefits without ever having paid into the system); Page 58 — the government will have real-time access to an individual’s financial records and a national ID health card will be issued (perhaps they can save paper by burning a serial number into our arm); Page 65 (Section 164) — creates a subsidized plan for retirees and their families in unions and community organizations (I’m guessing that’s not the YWCA. You don’t think it might be ACORN do you?); Page 95 (lines 8-18) — the government will use groups such as ACORN and AmeriCorps to sign up individuals for the government healthcare plan (I hope they include all of the dead people who voted in the November election); Page 126 (lines 22-25) — employers MUST pay for healthcare for part-time employees AND their families; Page 167 (lines 18-23) — ANY individual who doesn’t have acceptable healthcare (according to government) will be taxed 2.5 percent of their income (why should you know what coverage you and your family need?); Page 170 (lines 1-3) — Any NONRESIDENT alien is exempt from individual taxes. (We “un-American” Americans will pay for the non-Americans); Page 203 (lines 14-15) – This one I really have to quote. “The tax imposed under this section shall not be treated as tax” (wait..... WHAT?); Page 253 (lines 10-18) – the government will set the value of the doctor’s time and/or professional judgment (or, to put it another way, the value of your life). Why would so many “un-Americans” question the foresight of the good folks in Washington? Perhaps, it is because we are incapable of appreciating the effort it takes to put together such a high quality piece of legislative manure. Shame on us! Shame on us also for expecting our elected officials to show up for “manufactured” town hall meetings to have an honest debate with their constituents. We should all be completely guilt-ridden. Better get the guilt-counseling now, if you know what I mean. Dave Edinger Peachtree City, Ga. login to post comments |
