PTC lengthens library hours

Peachtree City’s library is stretching out its evening hours to accommodate for the needs of students working on homework assignments.

Starting this week, the library will be open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Friday and Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m.

The changes in the schedule were initiated after a survey about the schedule was conducted with library patrons this summer.

New signal for Hwy. 74 north

A new traffic light for Ga. Highway 74 at Wisdom Road is underway with contractors set this week to erect the necessary poles.

City officials estimate the signal should be activated by September. The light will flash yellow for at least several days so motorists can become accustomed to using it.

The project has been delayed for several months while the city has worked to secure a necessary easement from the CSX railroad company. The easement then had to be approved by the Georgia Department of Transportation before the project could proceed.

Curbside recycling for all

Starting Friday, residential trash haulers are required to offer curbside recycling as part of their base service.

The recycling must be single-stream, meaning that residents will not have to separate their recyclables by type. They must only have them on the curb at the prescribed day.

For more information, contact your sanitation provider as follows:

• CLM Sanitation, 770-474-9273; www.clmsanitation.com

• Republic/Allied/Allsouth/BFI, 404-792-2660; www.recycleITatlanta.com

• Waste Industries/Cardinal, 770-969-0148; www.wasteindustries.com

• Waste Management, 404-794-6707; www.wm.com

These are the only four companies so far to reach a franchise agreement to run sanitation service in Peachtree City. Residents aware of other companies operating here are asked to email Betsy Tyler at info@peachtree-city.org because other companies must cease service until an agreement is approved.
