Aubrey Jackson Selby

Aubrey Jackson "Jack" Selby died Aug. 11, 2009. He was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey Selby, mother, Mary Shavender, stepmother, Emma "Nannie' Selby, a sister, Mary Van Rife Caffey, and grandmother, Sally Swindell. He was born Dec. 5, 1934 in Newport News, Va. and was graduated from high school there in 1952. He had served in the United States Army at Fort Bliss Missile Base in El Paso, Texas as a Nike Missile Instructor for three years. He began his career as an electrical apprentice in Newport News and later moved to Jonesboro to head up their operation there. He eventually opened his own electrical company. He was a member of Coke Chapel United Methodist Church, Sharpsburg.

Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Floyd Carmack and the Rev. John Hagen officiating. Interment was at Montgomery, Ala. Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Moore Selby; mother-in-law, Mary Frances Moore, Montgomery, A la.; brother-in-law, Mike Moore, Montgomery; two sisters-in-law; two nephews; and five nieces. Memorial donations may be made to VistaCare Hospice Foundation, American Cancer Society or the Fuller Housing Foundation. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
