Veterans honored by local chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy

A ceremony of bestowal of Crosses of Military Service and National Defense Medals were awarded to thirteen veterans by the Frankie Lyle Chapter No. 2074, United Daughters of the Confederacy. The ceremony was held recently in the historic Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Forest Park in appreciation for their service to our country.

First row: Chapter President Linda Ramey; Jerry Lee Gibby, U.S. Army, Palmetto received the Korean War Cross; ,James Oliver Roland, U.S. Army, Sale City received the WWII Cross; Clover Lee Jones, U.S. Marines, Jonesboro received the WWII Cross, Sam Rentz, Locust Grove, who accepted the WWI Cross posthumously for his uncle, George Cheney, U.S.Army; Linda Robinson, Fayetteville, Chapter Recorder of Military Service Awards; Billy Thomas Smith, U.S. Army, Fayetteville, received the Korean War Cross

Second row: Larry Lemacks, U. S. Army, Fayetteville, received the Vietnam National Defense Medal; Bobby Wisham, U.S. Air Force, Conyers, received the Korean War National Defense Medal; Ronald Wayne Stubbs, U.S. Army, Riverdale, received the Vietnam Conflict Cross; Edgar Lee Bolin, Jr. U.S. Navy, Fayetteville, received the Korean War National Defense Medal and also accepted the WWI Cross posthumously for his father, Edgar Lee Bolin, Sr. U.S. Army; Rachel Colbert, Fayetteville, accepted the WWI Cross posthumously for her father William Cole, U.S. Army; Mark Ramey of Fayetteville accepted the WWI Cross posthumously for his grandfather, Thomas Boggs U.S. Army; and guest speaker, Marietta resident, William O. Nisbet, Jr. U. S. Army Chaplain Colonel, Forces Command, Ft. McPherson, Georgia received the Persian Gulf (Desert Shield/Desert Storm) National Defense Medal.
