Divorce Care for adults and kids starts next WednesdayTue, 08/11/2009 - 3:25pm
By: The Citizen
Beginning Wednesday, Aug.19, Heritage Christian Church will offer Divorce Care as well as Divorce Care 4 Kids from 6:30 – 8 p.m. “DivorceCare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences,” a spokesperson said. “Don’t go through separation or divorce alone.” Leaders of the group are people who understand the pain of going through a divorce. Access to valuable DivorceCare resources will be made available. It is a known fact that children experiencing divorce often feel alone and helpless. “Your children may feel scared, sad and confused,” the spokesperson continued. “They may hide their feelings from you because they are worried about your happiness or because they do not know how to express their feelings appropriately.” Divorce care 4 Kids (DC4K), for children 5-12 years of age, is a special group designed to help children heal from the pain caused by a separation or divorce. DC4K provides children with a safe and neutral place to recognize and learn to share their feelings. For 13 weeks, children become involved in a fun, caring group where the weekly session topics help them turn their sadness to hope and their anger to joy.
