Georgia’s middle school students can now register for online, fall quarter, core academic and elective courses through the Georgia Virtual School (GAVS) division of the state Department of Education. Courses for enrichment, remediation, or acceleration are 9 weeks in length and begin Aug. 10 or 17 for the first quarter, and Oct.12 or 19 for the second quarter. Registration ends Aug. 12 for the first quarter, and Oct. 14 for the second quarter. The most recent addition to the GAVS course catalog is Health Care Science 8, an elective for students who are or may be interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, or who just might like an alternative to the traditional art, music, and business electives. For more information, go to www.gavirtualschool.org and click on GAVS Middle School on the right side of the page. School and district representatives who would like more information about utilizing GAVS courses in their schools will also find help here. login to post comments |
