Fayette NAACP has plans for numerous upcoming events

The leadership of the Fayette County Branch, NAACP is just back from the Centennial Convention where the theme was “Bold Dreams, Big Victories.” Invigorated with enthusiasm for celebrating 100 years of NAACP activism, the Fayette County Branch, NAACP has embarked upon an ambitious slate of events that will lead up to the Freedom Fund Banquet which is the major fundraising event of the year.

On Aug. 8, the regular monthly meeting will be held at Flat Rock AME Church at 4 p.m.., 120 Old Chapel Lane, Fayetteville, Ga. 30214. The next day on Aug. 9, a Back to School Rally and Membership Drive is planned from 3-6 p.m. at the Kenwood Park pavilion on Highway 279 where the Branch members will collect school supplies from donors to distribute to needy families. Light refreshment and jazz music will be available for donors to enjoy. Other events with dates are included on the website, www.fcnaacp.org.

The Fayette County Branch was organized and chartered in February, 1997, to implement the NAACP mission by making a positive impact on the quality of life for the citizens of Fayette County.
