By: The Citizen
Deborah Johnson Kidwell is named Newnan-Coweta Art Association’s “Artist of the Month” for the month of July. A sampling of her work can be seen at Newnan City Hall in the City manager’s office located at 25 LaGrange Street. While most at home working with and teaching pastels, she has recently returned to oil painting through classes with Plein Air landscape painter Millie Gosch. The show features small, intimate landscape oil paintings created with the limited palette of 4 colors explored through Millie’s classes. As a lifelong resident of snowy New England, she has delighted in Georgia’s early, long Spring. Violets on Valentine’s Day were a special surprise. Deborah received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the University of New Hampshire. She was awarded Best of Show 2008 Appalachian Pastel Society and Editors Mention in Pastel Journal's online magazine/blog. She lives in Newnan with her husband Chuck. Chuck is a fine woodcarver and sculptor. They enjoy Barnes and Noble “dates“, junk-tiquing , walks with their Golden Retriever “Butternut”, purring over their kitty “B.D.”(Beulah Dove) with her five new kittens and the Grace of God.
