Thelma Payton Winkles, 89, Newnan, died July 7, 2009. She was born Aril 2, 1920 in Newnan. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Harvey and Annie Bell Samples Payton, and her husband, Willie Frank Winkles. Services were at the McKoon chapel with the Rev. Dr. Melvin Payne officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan.

Survivors include a daughter, Jackie and Gary Bowle, Palmetto; grandchildren, Brian and Sandy Bowie, Scott and Christy Bowie, Carla and Chad Davis, all of Newnan; a great-granddaughter, Helena Clair Bowie; sisters, Joyce Andrews, Molly Ann and Weldon Strickland, Newnan; and sister-in-law, Jean Payton, Newnan. Memorial donations may be made to the Coweta County Food Pantry, 320C Temple Ave., Newnan, GA 30263. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
