Errant suitcase leads to bomb response at PTC’s FAA facilityFri, 07/10/2009 - 3:28pm
By: John Munford
A suitcase left outside the Federal Aviation Administration’s Atlanta TRACON building on Ga. Highway 74 South in Peachtree City early Tuesday morning led police to treat it as a possible explosive device, officials said. It wasn’t until later that it was determined the suitcase had been accidentally left behind by a TRACON employee whose wife picked him up at the facility, police said. Because the suitcase was up against the building, officials had no choice but to treat it as a potential explosive device, police said. Bomb-sniffing dogs from Ft. Gillem in Forest Park were called in to assess the risk, and ultimately police learned the suitcase didn’t contain any explosives, police said. login to post comments |
