The Peachtree City Police Department is seeking applicants for its latest Community Emergency Response Team class. Participants will learn how to help respond to disaster scenarios including how to operate emergency radios, remove fallen trees and render first aid to injured persons. The classes begin Thursday, Sept. 3 and the application deadline is Aug. 27. The classes will be held each Thursday for 10 weeks from 6:30 to 9 p.m. each night. Prospective candidates must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Georgia. Applicants will be required to sign a Waiver of Liability form and will be subject to a criminal history background check as a pre-condition to acceptance into the program. There is no fee for the class, but the number of participants is limited.
