The Senoia City Council Monday night unanimously approved the purchase of two pre-owned vehicles for the Police Department. The purchase and outfitting price for the two 2008 Dodge Chargers is $41,723.

Chief Jason Edens said the pre-owned vehicles would replace the 2008 Chevrolet Impala and 2005 Ford Crown Victoria currently driven by the chief and captain. The vehicle purchase will allow for two 2001 Crown Victoria patrol cars to come off the road and be used as spare vehicles.

The price for the two Dodge Chargers was $34,323. The addition of $7,400 for needed equipment and signage for one of the cars brings the total to $41,723, Edens said. Edens said the Chargers, to be purchased from Hayes Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep in Lawrenceville, have a portion of the 3-year/36,000 mile warrant intact. A new, equipped Crown Vic sells for $34,000, he said.
