Fayette City Council is scheduled to conduct a public hearing and first reading of a rezoning request on property located at 280 N. Jeff Davis Road from R-30 to O&I. The council will also consider authorization to use the 2001 Bond Fund balance for the Villages Amphitheater and Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House improvements. The rezoning request for 280 N. Jeff Davis would convert the 1,600 square-foot residence for use as an office. The proposed rezoning is compatible with the city’s Comprehensive Land Use Map that designates the area for downtown mixed use development, Planning and Zoning Director Eldridge Gunn said in a Feb. 3 memo. Council members will also consider a request for $75,000 in improvements to the Villages Amphitheater and $65,000 for painting the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House using funds from the 2001 Bond Fund Projects Account. Main Street Executive Director Nancy Price said Feb. 2 the Downtown Development Authority recommends the expenditure. Amphitheater improvements would include two sets of stairs on the left and right sides near the tiered tables, she said. The stairs would match existing ones and would have matching handrails and lighting. The proposed project includes the installation of a 20-foot by 30-foot concession/storage building with two, roll-up windows, one exterior door, electrical and water. The low bid for the project was $75,000, Price said. The Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House project includes an estimated $50,000 for preparation and chemical paint removal and a $15,000 estimate for primer and painting of the entire exterior. Price said there is an adequate fund balance available to cover the expenditures. login to post comments |
