Commissioner Horgan should stay in his postTue, 07/07/2009 - 2:50pm

In the current issue an article on Commissioner [Robert] Horgan got my attention. Like most, I’ve followed this story. Two thoughts come to mind. 1. County resident Ben Morrell makes a valid point. Horgan’s mistake led to misdemeanor offenses. Why would he NOT be treated the same as any other county employee? Once I read that, it struck me that if not, the county could face a civil suit from Horgan. Let the process in place take care of this issue. 2. Commissioner Bost seems to be making political hay from this issue. To refer to a fellow commissioner as “the most useless county commissioner” is a statement that not only is in poor taste to be made publicly, but makes me wonder what his motivations really are. Quoting a classmate from 30 years ago is absurd and another example of Mr. Bost using every means necessary to get rid of a fellow commissioner. Mr. Bost seems willing to say anything about Horgan to let everyone know his brain is not “fried” — to quote Mr. Bost. This is the comedy of the absurd. Commissioner Bost should check his own background and make sure he’s never made any mistakes in his past. Talk about poor judgment, Bost is showing his own poor judgment and lack of professionalism resorting to personal attacks such as these. Showboating? One has to wonder. This is much ado about nothing. One has to wonder why Horgan would not be treated as Mr. Morrell suggests — that is unless Bost simply wants to get rid of someone with whom he disagrees. Let’s treat Commissioner Horgan under the current county guidelines. Rather than allow Bost to railroad another commissioner out of office. The voters may very well take care of this at the ballot box, yet Bost seems bent on usurping the voter’s voice. Bost’s “Holier than Thou” attitude may bring about similar scrutiny of his own past and he could end up facing a similar voter judgment. I don’t trust any public official who comes across as “mistake free.” Methinks Mr. Bost doth protest too much. Rick Sanderson Peachtree City, Ga. login to post comments |
