Join Fayette County resident Ed Christian and the Chapter VII Blue Knights Saturday, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m. for "A Knight for Kids" to benefit the Georgia Center for Children, a leading nonprofit organization in Georgia that aides in the healing of children and families who have experienced child sexual abuse.

"It is an honor to host an event for such an amazing organization that strives to help children left in the most unfortunate of situations," said Ed Christian, Fayette County resident and president of the Chapter VII Blue Knights. "I was a detective with the Atlanta Police Department and The Center took care of a child involved in one of my investigations. When it came to picking an organization in the community for the Chapter VII Blue Knights to help, there was really only one choice for us, the Georgia Center for Children."

Tickets are $100 per couple which enters you into the Grand Prize drawing, dinner and a "Knight" of entertainment by "Crystal and the Cruizers" at the Atlanta Expo Center North. One lucky winner will be the recipient of this year’s Grand Prize of both a 2006 Street Glide FLHX-I Harley-Davidson and a Classic 1973 Corvette Stingray, courtesy of Harley-Davidson of Clayton County and American Sportscar Center. More than $5,000 of silent auction items will be on display to raise funds including, a custom-made dollhouse, more than $5,000 worth of jewelry and several autographed Nascar memorabilia. There will also be more than $5,000 in live auction items.

"Over the past seven years, the Chapter VII Blue Knights has raised nearly $150,000 for The Center," said Lisa Dabney, development director for the GCC. "We are so thankful to organizations like the Blue Knights that understand the importance of aiding in the protection of Georgia's children."

Over the past 18 years, the Georgia Center for Children has helped more than 7,500 children and families. With two locations in DeKalb and Fulton county, it provides evaluation and treatment to aide in each child's long-term recovery and offers a statewide prevention and education program for sexual abuse on children.

The Blue Knights, a nonprofit fraternal organization consisting of active and retired law enforcement who enjoy riding motorcycles, works hard to help raise money for various children-related charities.

All proceeds from “A Knight for Kids” benefit the GCC, Shrine Hospital for Children and Special Olympics. The Atlanta Expo Center North is located at 3650 Jonesboro Road. For more information visit www.blueknightsgavii.org/home or to purchase tickets, call 770-960-6000 or 404-556-1911.
