Offshoot Productions, in conjunction with the Tyrone Recreation Department, will offer The Cinderella Chronicles drama camp for ages 7 to 15.  The partially scripted, partially improvised play, which depicts the discovery of Cinderella’s diary by two modern-day children, is the culmination of a week of drama instruction at the Roger Spencer Community Center, beginning July 20 and ending July 24.

The young actors will participate in a series of workshops focusing on creating characters, stage techniques and ensemble acting.  The camp is suitable both for newcomers to the stage and for those with theatre experience.

Campers will break into age-appropriate groups for much of the afternoon, then work together in rehearsal.  Each camper will have the opportunity to develop his or her role in unexpected and compelling ways.

Instructors for the camp, which meets daily from 1:00 to 4:15 p.m. and costs $98, include Susan M. Steadman, Ph.D., producing artistic director of Offshoot Productions, and Paige Steadman, a performer and Offshoot’s musical director.  For registration, contact Tyrone Recreation at (770) 487-4694 or tyronerec@tyrone.org.  For information on camp content, contact Offshoot Productions at (770) 631-2362 or offshootpr@aol.com.  To learn more about Offshoot Productions, the longest-running professional theatre company on the Southside, go to www.offshoot.org.
