Free Workshops for Small Business Owners Return to Fayette County Public Library

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. – (June 24, 2009) – The United States Small Business Administration (SBA) Georgia District Office returns to the Fayette County Public Library this July to present two free evening workshops for small business owners. Both prospective and established business owners can benefit from these workshops, which are open to the public.

The “Bookkeeping: Managing Your Books” workshop on Thursday, July 9, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. is designed to teach small business owners how to set up a modern bookkeeping system to facilitate and simplify the management of the business. Participants will also be introduced to some software programs for bookkeeping. Topics to be covered include: “Maintain an Action/Business Plan for Your Business”; “Time Management”; “Do I Utilize an Accountant, Bookkeeper or Simply Manage My Own Books?”; and “Invest in Yourself and Your Business.”

In “Budgeting 101,” on Thursday, July 23, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., participants learn the process of looking at the money coming in each month and making a plan for what to do with it. Those who attend will learn basic budgeting tips for business, and will practice putting together a budget at the end of the class. Topics to be covered include: “What is a Budget?”; “Parts of a Budget”; “Income and Expenses”; and “Budget Creation & Revision.”

Both workshops are taught by Debra T. Griffin, a branch manager with Flagstar Bank and a business consultant to small and medium-sized companies.

Pre-registration is required for the workshops. The SBA workshops are hosted by the Fayette County Public Library and the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library.
