Fayette County is one of just 22 counties in Georgia to have an unemployment rate of less than 8 percent in May, according to the Georgia Department of Labor.

The results show Fayette with a 7.9 percent unemployment rate, which is also lowest among all metro Atlanta counties. The state unemployment rate for May is 9.5 percent.

Unemployment rates among counties neighboring Fayette include:

• Coweta 10.5 percent

• Spalding 13.6 percent

• Clayton 11.1 percent

• Fulton 9.9 percent

• Henry 9.1 percent
