Thomas Broadwater, 17, Newnan, died June 8, 2009 from complications associated with Cystic Fibroses. He was a member of Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church and was an Honors Student at Northgate High School where he had just completed his junior year. His passion in education was technology where he particularly excelled in math, robotics and computers. He was a member of the National Honor Society, the Beta Club, the Academic Bowl and also a math tutor to his fellow students. He was also involved in many community programs and was chosen to participate in the Governor's Honors Technology program s a sophomore. He was a student at the Central Educational Center where he was captain of the B.E.S.T. Robotics team that finished in second place in the state competition. Services were at the Newnan First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Dixon, the Rev. Dr. David Campbell, and the Rev. Jay Hodges officiated. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Survivors include his parents, Alan and Judy Broadwater, Newnan; a sister, Allison Broadwater; and grandparents, Ralph and Patsy Broadwater, Cragford, Ala., and the Rev. Horace Couch, Newnan. Memorial donations may be made to either the Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4301 Roscoe Rd., Newnan, GA 30263, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2302 Parklake Dr., Ste. 210, Atlanta, GA 30345.
