SGT David Battle's Homecoming

Wow!! First, I never thought I'd participate in "blogging", but I also never thought I would read such negative comments about one of our american heroes (SGT Battle). Just for clarity and to cut out the guest work, I'm a 28 yr veteran of the US Army, served in first Gulf War, and currently serve in support of our troops engaged in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. For what it is worth, I'm an African-American (American First) and a proud Faytteville, Georgia resident. As we say in the military, Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF): I was there with my kids when SGT Beale (Henry County) came home, and I will be there with my kids when SGT Battle comes home. Inspite of what you think about the VA and your countrie's leadership and their decision to send us in harms way, remember, "Freedom is not Free". For us that serve in the Armed Forces, that means a lot more that just a slogan on a tag. So, regardless of the negative comments, race-bating, who owes who, the men and women that I serve with will without a doubt give the utimate sacrifice for you too. We don't complain about much, so let us have this moment to honor yet another one of our own. When it's all over, you can go back to normal, and we'll do our best to keep you safe so that you can do so. I'm sure I will never blog again, but I felt compelled to share my view.

From one Soldier and his family, to another Soldier and his, thank you for your service SGT Battle and Happy Father's. Unfortunately, I do understand the horrors and the cost of being one of "America's Warriors".

God bless you all, and as we say in the military, "We'll see you on the objective".
