Tyrone senator named legislator of the year

State Sen. Ronnie Chance, R-Tyrone, has been named one of five Legislators of the Year by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

Chance was honored along with Sen. Jack Hill of Reidsville, Rep. Ben Harbin of Evans, House Speaker Glenn Richardson of Dallas and Rep. Calvin Smyre of Columbus.

“Maintaining Georgia’s economic attractiveness and competitiveness is critical to our future success,” said George Israel, President and CEO of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. “These individuals not only understand that, but demonstrated an unwavering commitment to maintaining an environment in Georgia where new and existing businesses can thrive.”

The Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s primary mission is advocacy on behalf of business at the state and federal level. With the leadership of the organization’s government affairs council, comprised of government affairs professionals from throughout the state, the Chamber speaks on behalf of Georgia business and industry, focusing on quality of life and economic issues critical to the state’s future.
