What degree is in the highest demand among citizens of Fayette County? Although it’s matter of more than just strictly supply and demand, Clayton State University-Fayette is going to start supplying a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in 2010.

This past week, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia gave its approval to Clayton State’s proposal to offer the AACSB-accredited School of Business’ BBA degree at the Fayette campus, starting with the spring 2010 semester.

“The Bachelor of Business Administration is the most commonly requested degree we have at our Fayette County location,” says Dr. Kevin Demmitt, assistant vice president for academic outreach and director of the Fayette campus, located at 1200 Commerce Dr. in Peachtree City. “I am very excited that we will be able to meet the community need.”

As Demmitt noted, the BBA has been in high demand in Fayette and the surrounding counties. What’s more, the BBA will also complete a bridge to Clayton State’s successful MBA program, which is already being offered in Fayette County.

“The BBA is an excellent complement to our MBA degree program. Students can now start as a freshman and go all the way through their master’s degree program right here in Fayette County,” he said.

“We are proud of the quality of Clayton State’s BBA and MBA programs. The School of Business is accredited by the AACSB which is the premier accrediting body for colleges and universities. The people of Fayette County expect a high quality program and that is what we will deliver.”

“The Fayette Chamber is very pleased to hear that the Board of Regents has approved for Clayton State to offer the BBA degree in Fayette,” said Virginia Gibbs, president of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce. “It is a great addition to the very successful MBA program which Clayton State currently offers here. We think the BBA program will give businesses a good resource to find future talent as well as to augment the skills of current employees.”

Open houses at the Peachtree City campus will be held later this summer to further inform prospective students about the BBA.
