• Peachtree City’s Ed Clark placed second in the Masters and Roadsters race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the fifth Winter Flurry race of the season. Fayetteville’s Trey Maughan placed second in the Bandolero Young Guns/Outlaws race, while his father, Don, placed 10th. Brooks’ Billy Fulson placed second in the semi-pro race, while Matt Dooley, also from Brooks, placed 13th in the Bandolero Bandits race.

The final Winter Flurry season race will take place on March 18 during the Golden Corral 500 weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

• Peachtree City resident Sally Maple had an unassisted goal for the Presbyterian College women’s lacrosse team in their season opening loss to Queens University.

• The Fayette County High School Winter Guard will be performing this weekend at the Daytona 500 pre-race show. The Guard Members will be on the in-field with approximately 3,000 members performing live with Bon Jovi. The performance will air live on NBC on Sunday, Feb. 19 between 1:45-2:30 p.m.
