May-Swanagan

Dr. Gail McCarver of Waukesha, Wis., and Ron May of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., announce the engagement of their daughter, Diana Kathleen, to Brian Scott Swanagan, son of Ms. Nancy Swanagan of Fayetteville and Jeffery Swanagan of Powell, Ohio.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mrs. and the late Joe May of Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. and the late Richard McCarver, also of Memphis. She is a 2000 graduate of Andover High School in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., a 2004 graduate of the University of Michigan where she received a B.S. in mathematics, and a 2006 graduate of Oakland University where she received a M.A. in mathematics. She currently attends the University of Georgia where she is pursuing a doctorate in mathematics education. She is employed by the University of Georgia as a teaching assistant and as a co-editor for The Mathematics Educator and at Athens Technical College as an adjunct professor.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Perkins of Columbus, Ohio, and the late Jeff Swanagan and Marian Jean VanPelt of Ohio. He is a 2003 graduate of Fayette County High School, a 2006 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology where he received a B.S. in applied mathematics, and a 2008 graduate of the University of Georgia where he is pursuing a doctorate in mathematics education. He is employed at Winder-Barrow High School as a mathematics teacher.

The wedding will be in early July at the Georgia Club. Following a honeymoon in Italy, the couple will reside in Rome, Ga., where the bride will be an assistant professor at Shorter College and the groom will be a mathematics teacher at Model High School.
