Lamar Branton, 78, Fayetteville, died May 27, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Henrietta Branton, eight brothers and one sister. Services were at New Hope Baptist Church, North Campus, with the Rev. Hugh Kirby officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Joan Tanner Branton, Fayetteville; sons, Lyle and Mandy Branton, Fayetteville, and Ray and Ann Branton, Griffin; daughters, Peggy and Dick Cane, Perry, Fla., and Joy Chapman, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Lori, Angie, Don, Shelly, Darin, Daniel, Joshua, Rebekah, Hannah, Sarah, Josiah, Micah, Anna Beth, Abigail, Jonathan, Jeremiah, Caleb, Jessie, and Ryan; 16 great-grandchildren; a mother-in-law, Vera Tanner; and sisters, Johnnie Mae Allen, Charlestown, Ind., and Peggy Barlow, Deleon Springs, Fla.
