Off duty cop busts auto thief A Fayetteville teenager was caught in the act Saturday while trying to make off with loot from an off duty police officer’s vehicle in unincorporated Fayette County, officials said. The officer happened to spot Gage Allen Rola and ordered him to sit on the ground until deputies arrived, said Lt. Belinda McCastle of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. All told Rola, 18, of Jefferson Avenue, is charged with nine counts of entering an auto. Four of the incidents occurred on Chateau Drive, another four occurred at Woodvalley Drive and the other occurred at Fayette Villa Court, police said. Among the items that were stolen and recovered were a .38 caliber pistol, a GPS unit, two cellphones and an electric razor, police said. When he was trying to slip away from the off-duty officer’s car, Rola was trying to get away with the officer’s duty belt which included an asp baton, holster and several magazine rounds, police said. 3 teens arrested for home burglary A burglar alarm led sheriff’s deputies to arrest three McDonough teenagers who burglarized a home on Seay Road south of Fayetteville, police said. All three were charged with burglary including Deontae Kentray Dukes, 19; Montreaz Fitzgerald Harris, 17, and a juvenile. Dukes was also charged with driving without a license and Harris was charged for possession of marijuana (less than one ounce). The deputy who pulled their vehicle over after seeing it leave the scene noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the car, police said.
