Mr. and Mrs. Michael Arvel Phillips of Peachtree City announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Melanie Anne Phillips, to Christopher Blake Staten, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lee Staten of Lilburn.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Wilbur Dismukes Jr. of Columbus and Mrs. Martha Jane Phillips and the late Talmidge Arvel Phillips of Calhoun. She is a 2002 graduate of Starr’s Mill High School and a 2006 graduate of the University of Georgia. She is currently employed as a project manager at United States Advanced Network in Norcross.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Albert Richardson Jr. of Athens. He is a 2002 graduate of Parkview High School and a 2006 graduate of the University of Georgia. He currently is in his second year at Georgia State University College of Law, with plans to graduate with a juris doctor degree in the spring of 2010. He presently works as a legal intern for Swift, Currie, McgGhee & Hiers in Atlanta.

The wedding is planned for Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Peachtree Christian Church in Atlanta. Following a honeymoon in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Decatur.
