BlazeSports America, in collaboration with Leg's Don't Work.com, will host exciting competition at the 2009 Run/Roll Tennis Challenge on Saturday May 23 at The Peachtree Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Georgia.   Match play begins at 9:00am and ends 7:00pm, rain or shine.

This is the eighth year running for this inclusive one up, one down tournament.   In one up, one down (or run/roll) tennis, a player in a wheelchair (roll) pairs up with an ambulatory player (run) and together they compete as a doubles team against another run/roll pair.   Players play according to USTA rules and only the player in the wheelchair is allowed two bounces.   The number of players and spectators in this event has grown with each passing year, and 2009 is expected to see another record turnout.

Fifteen doubles teams from all across Georgia, representing varying divisions from novice to elite, are set to compete this year. Each team will play a match against a team of comparable ability in order ensure a highly competitive match and an enjoyable experience for all.

"This event provides an opportunity for ambulatory and wheelchair players to come together for some exciting competition," says Dan Humphreys, director of sport and recreation with BlazeSports America, a not-for-profit organization that provides sport and recreation opportunities for individuals with physical disability.   "Wheelchair tennis promotes a healthy active lifestyle and the event is a great opportunity for all levels of players to be active, compete, and include family and friends. This year's Run/Roll promises to be a great experience for competitors and spectators alike, and we expect it to inspire more people with and without disabilities to get involved."

The event is free and open to the public.
